Carved from exceptional natural Lemurian quartz sourced in Diamantina, Brazil—a region historically known for diamond mining in the 18th and 19th centuries and now respected worldwide for producing some of the clearest quartz—this sphere stands out for its interior richly filled with vivid natural rainbows, exceptional clarity, and refined translucency.
Light travels freely through the crystal, activating multiple internal rainbow planes formed by natural growth features within the quartz. These rainbows appear easily under direct light, shifting in intensity and color as the sphere is moved, creating a dynamic internal landscape that is especially valued in high-quality Diamantina quartz.
The quartz used for this sphere was hand-cut and carefully polished by an experienced artisan in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais. The final polishing was completed using cerium oxide, the same compound used in fine gemstone cutting, resulting in a smooth, mirror-like surface that enhances the visibility of the internal rainbows while preserving the crystal’s natural structure.
Clear quartz spheres of this size and rainbow intensity are increasingly uncommon, as finding material with both high transparency and strong internal light play suitable for sphere carving is rare.
