This large clear quartz sphere is a high-grade Diamantina specimen, carved from exceptional quartz sourced in Diamantina, Brazil—an area once known for diamond mining and now celebrated worldwide for producing some of the clearest quartz crystals in existence.
Inside the sphere, natural internal features create beautiful flowing patterns, forming numerous rainbows that appear easily as light moves across the surface. This rainbow-rich clarity is highly valued in Diamantina quartz, making this sphere a standout piece for collectors and interior design.
The sphere was hand-cut and polished by an experienced lapidary in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, and finished with cerium oxide—the same polishing compound used in fine gemstones—resulting in a smooth, mirror-like polish that enhances its transparency and internal light play.
