Carved from exceptional natural quartz sourced in Diamantina, Brazil—a region historically known for diamond mining in the 18th and 19th centuries and now respected worldwide for producing some of the clearest quartz—this sphere stands out for its beauty, clarity, and the rainbows in its interior.
The sphere shows outstanding transparency, with light moving freely through the crystal and revealing natural internal rainbows created by subtle natural flaws within the quartz. These internal structures form organic patterns that give the sphere depth and visual character, a hallmark of high-quality Diamantina quartz.
The quartz used for this sphere was hand-cut and carefully polished by an experienced artisan in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais. The final polishing was completed using cerium oxide, the same compound used in fine gemstone cutting, resulting in a smooth, mirror-like surface that enhances clarity while preserving the crystal’s natural integrity.
Clear quartz spheres of this size and quality are increasingly uncommon, as finding large material with the necessary clarity and stability for sphere carving is rare.
