Diamantina was historically known for diamond mining during the 18th and 19th centuries and is now respected worldwide for producing some of the clearest natural quartz found in Brazil.
The sphere is estimated to be more than 97% visually flawless, with an exceptionally clean and colorless interior that allows light to travel freely through the quartz. Only a small number of natural internal features interrupt its water-clear transparency, preserving the geological character of the crystal without diminishing its remarkable clarity.
Its AAA-grade classification reflects the quality of the original quartz, its nearly flawless interior, strong light transmission, colorless appearance, precise spherical proportions, and refined lapidary finish. Viewed from different angles, the sphere displays exceptional optical depth and a luminous, glass-like presence.
The quartz was carefully hand-cut and polished by an experienced lapidary artisan in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais. The final polishing was completed using cerium oxide, a professional compound used in fine gemstone and crystal polishing, resulting in a smooth, mirror-like surface that enhances the sphere’s transparency while preserving the natural integrity of the quartz.
Natural clear quartz spheres of this size and quality are increasingly uncommon, as the raw material must possess exceptional clarity, structural stability, and sufficient size to withstand the demanding cutting and polishing process.
