When people think of calcite, they often picture pointed dogtooth crystals, rhombohedral forms, or more delicate scalenohedral growth. This specimen stands apart for a completely different reason: a large, blocky calcite crystal with an almost cube-like, tabular appearance growing directly over a deep purple amethyst bed.
The calcite is the main character here. Its broad, geometric faces give it a bold architectural look, especially against the darker amethyst flower beneath it. It is not a true cubic calcite crystal mineralogically, but its near-square proportions and strong rectangular faces create that rare, eye-catching “cube-like” effect collectors love.
Up close, the calcite shows natural etched textures and small details across its faces, adding more character to the formation.
The amethyst itself brings a rich purple tone, with well-developed druzy points surrounding the calcite and creating a strong contrast between the warm creamy-white crystal and the dark violet background. Together, the two minerals form a very balanced and aesthetic composition that reads beautifully from every angle.
